Does someone have any suggestions/wisdom about using Ford and GM transfer cases together? We have a Ford np205 and a GM np203. It looks like there might be an adapter plate available through ORD. Not real savvy on the doubler game.
I can tell you it's a GREAT combo. I ran a 203 behind a ZF and a D20. Great combo. D20 is a little weak but the 203/205 is really a great combo. Only combo that's better is a Titan with the 205. Had one of those also and sold it to my buddy who loves it. Offers all the options, super low/low and an extremely useful 2:1 ratio. HARD to beat a doubler if you want the opportunity to have the best of super slow control and still be able run sand or other high wheel speed wheeling. Titan is only 5.33" long in front of the 205.
I was gathering the parts to do one of those a while back. I had myself convinced it was an ideal setup. I ended up going a different direction and sold the parts off. But I think it's a strong, bulletproof way to get some extremely low gearing.
MISF has all of the bits except for the adapter plate to put one of these in his K5 crawler. I keep trying to talk him into it. It's a great way to get a Stupid Low basement gear.
I like the idea of a planetary doubler like the Black Box or a Titan, but the 203/205 combo is relatively inexpensive and pretty burly.
