Got this thing running and driving last month after doing the following:
Rebuilt 302/C4/D20
Holley 4150 with electric choke and Summit intake manifold
Hedman Headers, 2 into 1 exhaust with Magnaflow muffler
JB fab twin stick shifter
Centech harness
Power steering

Rebuilt the front...
I no longer own this Bronco. I built it with help from my buddy Jason, and Mark at Beach City Broncos took care of the body work/paint. Found this album link in an old email:
Oh wow, I owned this Bronco just before you. I got it when I was 17 and it was in a poor state. My buddy (whom you got it from) helped me get it into decent shape until eventually he needed it to settle the deal with you. Nice to see it being cared for!
We didn't bring our Broncos but I did bring a photographer friend who got some pictures of some of you coming back from a run when we were on our way out to wheel... here's a link to an album with just the Broncos we passed, enjoy:

Finished filling holes in the dash. Need to put some filler on it and sand it down. Then I'll take it to Beachcitybroncos.com and Mark's body guy is going to teach me a bit about paint. Also scored a rebuilt 302/c4/d20 so now I pretty much have all the big-ticket items to get this thing running...
Since I installed a new motor 2 years ago I've been having running-hot issues which kept me from going off-roading and enjoying it as I was troubleshooting it with a new e-fan + controller, going through the whole cooling system even though everything was new etc. Turned out it my EGR valve...
I plan to drive my '78 F150 up on Saturday morning (leaving Sunday) with my buddy in his '05 Rubicon (each with a passenger). My dad is thinking about coming thru as well in his Gladiator.
The Bronco isn't ready this year.
It's been slow for the Bronco; one of the guys at Beach City Broncos in San Diego has a motor for me that's ready to run but I've been doing some work on my truck that I should be wrapping up in the next week or so. Then I can drive down to San Diego and pick up the motor.
In the meantime I...
Hey Mike, this was TDS in 2012. Yup, last time I saw you and I think you had just finished putting 1-tons on the green Bronco (love that thing). That inspired me to build something entirely different from the Bronco I just "finished".. 9 years later and I'm gathering parts for a 1 ton swap on a...
Awesome, I bought this Bronco shortly after this TDS trip (the brown one), daily drove it for a year..
and then used it as the donor to build this one (which I took to 2012 TDS):
I believe I do have a copy of the schematic referenced by the calibration code on my valve covers and I do indeed have all of the parts. I know for a fact I had it all set up incorrectly when it passed his visual check and the sniffer (very good readings he pointed out). I was missing the heat...
Pics from the first TDS I went to with SCB peoples.. Dutra (rest in peace) and I had just finished getting the gray Bronco going and took it out on it's first trip.
Looking forward to the next one.
I imagine everyone here lives in CA and has to pass smog with their 1978-1979 Broncos.. I bought my federal emissions 1978 F150 in VA and moved back to CA a couple of years ago. I managed to get it to pass smog but I know my set-up isn't perfectly right and it's been causing problems with...
